IRRIGATION EQUIPMENT TESTING

CapeAbility markets the testing services of the Australian Irrigation Technology Centre (AITC)

What is the AITC?

The AITC is the only independent testing facility for irrigation equipment in Australia.

What tests can we do?

The NATA registered laboratory can carry out a range of tests on all types of irrigation equipment from pumps to soil moisture sensors - including filters, pipes, valves, fitting, sprinklers and other types of emitter. The AITC also tests other water reticulation equipment such as water and flow meters, hydrant valves and taps.

The following tests can be carried out at the AITC

Ø      Indoor sprinkler testing to a 40m wetted radius

Ø      Hydraulic testing of valves, fittings, etc. to 310 L/s

Ø      Component leak and burst pressure testing

Ø      Component operating pressure testing to 1000 kPa depending on flow

Ø      Performance tests on filters (headloss and particle separation efficiency).

Ø      Cyclic endurance testing

Ø      Drip emitter testing to characterize manufacturing uniformity and determine pressure and temperature relationships

Ø      Component failure analysis

Additional specialized testing, such as materials analysis, can be arranged in other laboratories at the University

Over 2000 tests have been completed for clients, including SA Water Corporation, Antelco Pty Ltd, Toro Australia, Amiad Australia, The Land and Water Resources Research and Development Corporation and the Murray-Darling Basin Commission. As well, a number of international companies from countries including Israel, Greece, China, the USA, Spain, India and France have used the services of the AITC.
